Preschool 3s, Preschool 4s, and Pre-K- 5s
Stringfellow's preschool curriculum provides each child an opportunity to grow in their own way.
Rich literature experiences are woven into all aspects of the curriculum.
Theme-based units provide hands-on learning in literacy, writing, math and science.
Social development is also a very important part of our curriculum.
Children have separate enrichment classes.
Enrichment Classes
Faith, story, art, and song
This year we will be exploring the bible in fun new ways. The children will be exposed to stories and verses using all their senses.
We will sing songs, create art, play games, and have lots of fun as we experience God's love.
The year will be roughly divided into three parts. First we will focus on Old Testament stories; after Christmas we will learn about Jesus and his teachings.
The last part of the year we will explore the different ideas God wants us to know (i.e. God is love.) I look forward to seeing them each week and helping them grow in the Lord.
Songs, rhythm, movement
I am so excited to meet all of your sweet children this year!
We will have lots of fun singing, dancing, exploring instruments, and discovering cool rhythm and beats!
We will have two programs this year. We will have a Christmas program and a spring program. Dates are yet to be determined, but you will have plenty of advance notice.
Our preschoolers will learn about God's love for them through classic songs and musical movement.
Confidence through motion
I am excited to be back as the Movement teacher this year at Stringfellow School!
Movement is provided to help our kids become aware and confident of the different ways they can move their bodies in order to have fun and keep fit for life.
Pre-schoolers (3's, 4's and 5's) come to Movement every week. The class includes fun warm-up songs, activities for hopping, skipping, and rhythmic motions, as well as components of traditional sports and games.
Our children will learn the importance of taking turns, playing on teams, and listening to directions. We will emphasize following the rules for P.E. activities and how to be a good sport!
Most importantly, our children will learn to appreciate that the ability to “move” is a gift from God and that “we can do all things through Christ, who gives us strength!”
Curiosity outside the classroom
The Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE) extends learning beyond the scope of the classroom.
The traditional playground has been redesigned to capture opportunities for learning in the natural environment.
The children are motivated by their curiosity to explore and develop concepts and an awareness of our world.
The gardens provide a wealth of activities for the children when they come outside daily.
By being in the garden, the children are using the many skills that help them grow and develop spiritually, physically, intellectually and emotionally. It also provides endless opportunities for “teachable moments.”
The OLE includes the following where your child's teacher and the Outdoor Learning Teacher facilitate learning.
